What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Reservations

When you book a table with us (via the website, by phone or by e-mail), we collect your name, telephone number, e-mail address, the date and time of the reservation and any special (dietary) requirements. This information is necessary to process the reservation, to send you a confirmation and to provide you with good service in our restaurant.

Contact forms

If you contact us via the contact form or by e-mail, we will only use the submitted data to handle your question or request. We keep these communications for a maximum of 6 months for customer service purposes. We do not use this information for marketing purposes, unless you have explicitly subscribed to it (for example, for a newsletter).

Cookies

For ordinary visitors, our website itself does not place tracking cookies:

  • Statistics: we measure visits with Umami, which works completely without cookies (see also "Statistics").
  • Reservations: the reservation widget (from Frank) is embedded on the site and can place its own cookies that are necessary to make a reservation.
  • Management: When an employee logs in to the private management area, a login cookie is placed. It contains no visitor data and disappears when logging out.

Embedded content from other websites

Pages on this site may contain embedded content, such as videos and the booking widget. Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly the same as if you visited that other website yourself.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content.

Statistics

We measure visits to our website with Umami. This is a privacy-friendly statistics service that does not place cookies and does not store any personal data. The data is anonymized and we only use it to improve the website.

Who we share your data with

We never sell your data to third parties. We only share your data with third parties if this is necessary for our services, such as:

  • Our reservation system (Frank), to manage your table reservation.
  • Our web host, for the secure storage of website data.

How long we keep your data

We do not store personal data longer than is necessary for the purposes for which we collect it. We use the following retention periods:

  • Reservation details: up to a maximum of 1 year after your visit, unless we are legally obliged to keep it for a longer period of time (e.g. for the Tax and Customs Administration).
  • Contact forms and e-mail: maximum 6 months after the last communication.

For employees with a management account, we keep the account data for as long as the account is active.

What rights you have over your data

If you have made a reservation or contacted us, you have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data. You can also request that the data we hold about you be exported or deleted. This does not apply to data that we are legally obliged to keep (e.g. in connection with the tax retention obligation).

Where we send your data

For some services we use (such as our reservation system), your data may be processed outside the European Union. In that case, we ensure that these parties comply with European privacy legislation (for example through standard contractual clauses).

How we secure your data

We take the protection of your data seriously and take appropriate measures to prevent misuse, loss, unauthorized access, unwanted disclosure and unauthorized modification. Our website uses a reliable SSL certificate (recognizable by the lock in the address bar) so that your personal data does not fall into the wrong hands. If you have the impression that your data is not properly secured or there are indications of misuse, please contact us.

What procedures we have in place in the event of data breaches

Restaurant Luwte has procedures for reporting and handling data breaches. If there is a data breach that poses a risk to the rights and freedoms of individuals, we will report this to the Dutch Data Protection Authority and inform the data subjects as soon as possible.
